NBL-US Adds Cypress Venom for 2023 Season
The National Basketball League-United States says it is expanding to Cypress, Texas for the 2023 season.
Cypress will be the league's seventh expansion team since it launched in 2020.
The NBL-US, now with 12 teams, will begin the 2023 season with two conferences six teams in each division.
The NBL-US has expanded its national footprint through expansion, adding teams in Pasadena, Woodlands,Lake Houston, East Houston, Baytown and Cypress.
The other franchises are located in Melbourne, Titusville, Fort Pierce, Cocoa, and Vero.
The NBL completed its third season June 12th, with the East Houston United defeating the Houston Hurricanes 103-88 in the championship game.
"Cypress is an ideal market with a great basketball history and is geographically located with the other five teams in the Western Conference" stated Will Campbell.
Donald Thompson was hired as the General Manager and Head Coach for the Venom. When asked about becoming the teams first General Manager and Head Coach Thompson said." The Venom inaugural season will begin March 4th, 2023 when they host the Woodlands Warhawks.
